Visitor centres
There are plans to establish visitor centres in all three participating cantons of St. Gallen, Glarus and Grisons in the long-term. These visitor centres, together with the GeoSites, are important infrastructure for educational purposes and the promotion of public awareness.
The visitor centres are also central players in the value chain related to World Heritage tourism.
The Glarnerland Visitor Centre opened its doors as the first visitor centre of the Sardona World Heritage in 2012. It has two locations, one in Glarus (the Glarnerland Nature Centre in the train station building) and one in Elm (in the old school building next to the church).
Other information points include the visitor pavilion at the Segneshütte above Flims, the earthquake exhibition in Vättis and the information room on the Kunkelspass. In the visitor pavilion dedicated to the Sardona World Heritage Site you can experience an exciting journey back in time and the earthquake exhibiton in Vättis shows links between earthquakes, rockfall and mountain building.
